I’ve always been fascinated with essential oils. As a child I remember the urge to open the lids of all those pretty blue bottles to discover their hidden scents and finding the ones I liked. The first oil I purchased was Rosemary and to this day, remains one of my favourites. My collection has grown quite considerably over the years, as has my interest in the beneficial effects of the oils for healing the mind, body and spirit.
My training to become a qualified practitioner was hard work but extremely rewarding with a requirement that I became proficient in many areas including;
- The history and development of aromatherapy
- The sense of smell and its effect on the body
- The human anatomy and nervous system
- Muscular and skeletal systems
- The safe use of carrier and essential oil blends
- Different massage techniques
… and much, much more.
I’m now very proud to have been awarded a Diploma (level 4) in Advanced Aromatherapy and look forward to applying and developing my skills as a fully qualified and insured professional.
I currently specialise in the support of adults with autism and provide help with their care and achievements across a range of provisions in the Midlands. My work has seen the positive effect that aromatherapy has on the emotional stability and behaviour management of clients with severe autism and learning disabilities.
I look forward to continuing my research in aromatherapy and autism, so please get in touch if you have your own story to tell, require advice or would like to contribute in any way.
Lots of love
